How Can We Help?
Raising a child with big emotions can be overwhelming.
At Bloom & Mind, we create a safe space where your child can express, explore, and heal through play and creativity.
Through play therapy, your child will build confidence, develop healthy coping skills, and feel heard in a way words sometimes can’t express.
When to Consider Therapy for Your Child
-

Anxiety
Anxiety in children may look like constant worry, irritability, or avoiding school and friends. Parents might notice physical complaints like stomachaches or trouble sleeping.
Through guided games and creative expression, we help children recognize their worries and build calming strategies they can use in everyday life.
-

Depression
Depression in children can show up as sadness, low energy, irritability, or a loss of interest in play and friends.
Through creative play and gentle exploration, we help children express feelings of sadness or low energy and build hope, connection, and motivation to engage with life again.
-

Behavioral Concerns
Challenging behaviors like aggression, defiance, or trouble focusing may be signs a child is struggling emotionally or needs support.
In the playroom, children learn healthier ways to express big emotions, practice self-control, and build confidence in making positive choices.
-

Trauma
Trauma in children may show up as mood swings, sleep issues, clinginess, or strong reactions to certain people, places, or situations. They may seem on edge, shut down emotionally, or replay the event through play or drawings.
Using storytelling, art, and symbolic play, we gently help children process overwhelming experiences and rebuild a sense of safety and control.
Supporting Your Child Together
Play is a child’s natural language, and toys are their words. Children often communicate through play what they can’t say with words. Using play therapy, expressive arts, and sand tray techniques, I help children process big emotions, navigate behavior challenges, and build confidence. Whether your child is dealing with anxiety, grief, trauma, or changes at home or school, I create a safe and supportive space where they can feel seen, heard, and understood, all while learning skills to grow emotionally strong.

At Bloom & Mind, I believe that therapy works best when caregivers are included in the process. While children do the work of healing through play and creative expression, your support outside of sessions is just as important. I partner with parents to share insights, offer practical tools, and help make sense of your child's behaviors. Together, we create a consistent support system that bridges the therapy room and home life. Your involvement can lead to stronger emotional connection, better communication, and long-term positive change for your child. With your collaboration, we build a team that helps your child feel seen, safe, and supported every step of the way.
Play therapy helps children express feelings they may not yet have the words for. Through play, your child can work through big emotions, build problem-solving skills, increase emotional regulation, and develop a stronger sense of self. It also supports healthy attachment, reduces anxiety, and encourages confidence, all in a way that feels natural, safe, and engaging for them. Many parents notice their child becoming calmer, connected, and better able to cope with daily challenges.

Helping Children Through Play
Non-Directive Play Therapy (Child-Centered Play Therapy – CCPT)
In non-directive play therapy, also known as Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT), the therapist follows the child’s lead. The playroom becomes a safe space where the child chooses how to play, and the therapist offers acceptance, reflection, and support without directing or controlling the process.
This approach allows children to:
Build self-confidence and a stronger sense of self.
Practice decision-making and problem-solving.
Develop emotional regulation at their own pace.
Experience unconditional acceptance, which fosters healing and growth.
Parents often notice that over time, their child shows increased emotional vocabulary, improved self-regulation, a healthier worldview, and greater self-esteem, the core outcomes of CCPT.
Directive Play Therapy
In directive play therapy, the therapist takes a more active role, guiding the child through specific activities, games, or creative interventions designed to target certain goals. For example, a therapist may introduce a coping-skills game, a story to process grief, or a sand tray activity to work through anxiety.
Directive play therapy can be especially helpful when a child needs structured support to learn new skills, understand certain experiences, or practice strategies in a clear, guided way.
How We Use Both Approaches
At Bloom & Mind Play Therapy, I use both directive and non-directive approaches depending on the child’s unique needs. Many sessions begin from a child-centered foundation (CCPT), where your child feels fully accepted and understood, and then may also include directive techniques when additional support, teaching, or processing is needed.
This balance ensures that your child experiences both the freedom of self-expression and the gentle guidance to learn new tools for growth.
